St Andrew's Church is a community of Christian believers from in and around Higher Blackley, Manchester, who have been found by God when we were lost and confused.  In turn, we have found in God someone worth living for and following.

We believe that God made himself visible and approachable by becoming human (a guy called Jesus of Nazareth: you may have heard of him).  One Friday, dying on a cross, he cleared away the obstacles between us and God.  And the following Sunday he was raised from the dead to guarantee the whole channel-clearing thing had worked.  And we believe that God has prepared good works for us to do, including caring for the people of the world and gently sharing what we believe with people around us.  Fortunately, God gives his Holy Spirit to fill us, equip us, enthuse us and generally kick us up the backside when we forget what we're supposed to be doing!

We're a mixture of ages, backgrounds and personality types (oh, and footballing loyalties) but somehow gathered together by God to fund and do youth work, children's work, toddlers' groups; to run home-groups, school assemblies, baptisms, weddings, funerals... Our vision is to have hearts that beat in time with the heart of God himself: loving what he loves, striving to change what pains him.  Sometimes we're better at that than other times.

If you want a perfect church, then we're not it.  But if you sometimes struggle, sometimes fail, sometimes get a glimpse of what God wants of you and sometimes stumble in the dark for a while, you'll be at home.  If you love God a little and want to love him a little more, then please come and join us.  If you love to receive but are also ready to give, then we can grow together in faith and love.

We're orthodox in belief and reasonably normal.  And the best way to find out about us is to drop in.  The building itself is at the top of Churchdale Road and service times can be found somewhere on this website...

So that's us.  Oh, and we're unashamedly part of the Church of England and the worldwide Anglican Communion.  That means we're local people with concerns both local and global.

Come along and find out more!
